Susan's Holiday Flora Collection from Spellbinders

Hi friends and happy Friday. I have two cards to share with you today that are a bit out of my comfort zone but I did have a lot of fun working the dies. I am using some die sets from Susan's Holiday Floral collection from Spellbinders. If you are not familiar with Susan's dies from Spellbinders, she has some amazing dies along with tutorials on how to take a flat piece of paper and create very realistic and dimensional flowers.

For my first card, I am using the Amaryllis die set. To create each flower cluster, there are 2 dies plus the stamen portion. I started by die cutting all of the dies from white card stock. I added Copic markers in various shades of red to my flowers and greens to the stem and leaves. I followed Susan's tutorial which can be seen here to create the flowers. She does a great job explaining everything. 

She uses this tool collection to manipulate the paper to create the dimensional look of the flowers and it is a must have if you are going to work with these dies, in my opinion. Once I had everything created, I set them aside and got to work on my background. 

I thought it would be fun to have a foiled background and I wanted to use my Scattered Dots glimmer plate. I foiled it with this foil onto some silver mirror card stock. I then die cut it using the largest dies from the Nestabilities Essential Rectangles die set for the dotted detail. I added the foiled background to a red note card.

I then added my stem and flowers and then added the 3 flowers. I finished off the card by adding a foiled sentiment which is from the Holiday Sentiments 2 glimmer plate set. 

This will definitely be a card I hand deliver. :) But I love how it came out. 

For my second card, I am using the new Winterberrry and Mistletoe die set and the Woodland Wreath and Feathered Friends die set. 

I started by die cutting the wreath die from the Woodland Wreath and Feathered Friends die set two times from some woodgrain card stock. I added some splatter to it with some Distress Spray. I sat them aside to dry. I die cut a piece of shimmer paper from this paper collection from Sizzix and then took one of the glimmer plates from the Elegant Holiday Glimmer Sentiments collection and foiled my sentiment onto it. I then added this to a red square notecard that measures 5.5 x 5.5 inches.

I then got to work on my winterberry leaves. I followed Susan's tutorial here to create the leaves. Susan's tutorial has you added a glaze to the leaves which I thought was fun. The berries were added with red Nuvo Drops. I added these to my wreath and then finished the card off by adding the die cut poinsettia which is from the Christmas Blooms die collection, also from Spellbinders.
