A New Release & a Fun Challenge

Sunday, June 20, 2021

Hi friends. It's the 20th of the month which means there's another great mini release at Whimsy Stamps. I've got a fun slimline card for you today featuring the brand new Lookin Shark stamp set and coordinating dies along with the new Slimline Wavy Edger dies.

I am also once again teaming up with Iris and Faye for a fun challenge where we all take the same stamp set and use a different coloring medium. I'm using Copic markers for my card. You can find Iris' card here where she is using colored pencils and Faye's card here where she is using watercolors.

For my card today, I started by using the Scribbles Background that was recently released and heat embossed it and then added it blue ink over top of it to mimic the ocean. I then colored in the cute little shark from the Lookin Shark set with my Copic markers and used the coordinating dies to cut it out. When I was done coloring the image, my marker decided to bloop on top of his head. Instead of scrapping the image, I decided to give my shark a party hat. :)

I then took the Slimline Wavy Edger dies and die cut them from various shades of blue card stock. I added them to my card tucking the shark in between one of the layers. I finished off the card by stamping the sentiment which is from the Calories Schamlories set and this fun birthday card is complete.

Here is some inspiration from the rest of the team.

Thanks for your visit. Wishing you a wonderful day. Crafty hugs ! ~ Alanna

This is great card, Alanna. Such a fun background and the grinning shark should make me nervous, but he makes me smile instead. Must be the hat. LOL Thanks for sharing this really fun card. :)
