Hi friends! I am super excited for today's post as I am partnering with my friends Faye and Iris from the Whimsy Stamps creative team again for another challenge where we have each taken the same stamp set and a different coloring medium. If you want to see the card I did for our first challenge using the super popular Wonky Donkey set, click here.
For this challenge, we thought it would be fun to use the new Lucky Ducky set that was just released yesterday from Whimsy Stamps. I busted out my very neglected Polychromos colored pencils which I haven't used in probably more than two years at least. To say I need a lot more practice is an understatement for sure.
For my card, I started by stamping the adorable upside down duck onto my card panel. I then stamped it again onto some masking paper and cut it out. I added the mask over top of my stamped image and then added a strip of masking tape so I could blend in my grass and sky portions using various shades of Distress Inks in blues and greens (linked below).
After my background was inked, I added a few water droplets. I then removed the mask and got to work on coloring the image with my colored pencils. I debated a bit on where to put my sentiment and then decided my sky needed just a bit more so I pulled out the Up in the Clouds die set and stamped the Quacky Birthday sentiment which is from the Lucky Ducky set onto the larger cloud.
I decided to add some orange Nuvo drops to the duck's beak and then finished off my card by matting my card panel onto some black card stock and then adding that to a top folding white card base.
I'm super happy with how the design turned out. I just need to practice on my coloring. :)

I hope you'll check out Iris' and Faye's cards here and here. Iris is using watercolors and Faye, the Copic goddess, is using Copic markers.
Thanks so much for stopping by. I truly appreciate it. Crafty hugs! ~ Alanna
