2 Slimline cards with a fun new Die

Saturday, August 1, 2020

Holy crap! It's August now in case you didn't know. :) I can't believe we are this far into 2020 but as far as I am concerned, the rest of the year can just skate on by quickly and without incident. :)

But the 1st of the month also means there's a new mini release at Whimsy Stamps. We've got 2 awesome new Slimline dies, flamingos, hamsters, gnomes, an awesome alphabet set and 2 new Polka Dot Pal cuties.

I have 2 cards to share with you today.

My first card features the awesome new Slimline Birthday Scallops die. This die is so much fun and those giant candles really take center stage. I die cut both parts of the candle 3 times out of white card stock. I then colored them with my Copic markers. I embossed the sentiment from Magical Birthday Wishes which is perfect since it talks about candles. :)

For my second card, I started by taking the new AlFaDoodles set and spelling out the word birthday. I stamped it in Copic friendly ink and then colored the letters in, each with 2 shades. I added the complementing wishes sentiment which is from an oldie but goodie - Happy Everything.

I then die cut this panel using the smaller scalloped die from the Slimline Birthday Scallops die. I added this to my card panel and then got to work creating my shaker well.

I used this foam tape that Whimsy sells. It's awesome because it has a really high profile so you don't need to double up your foam tape. It is also fairly narrow. For my card, I didn't have to do any trimming of the foam tape's width.

Here is some inspiration from the rest of the team.
Thanks for visiting today and have a great weekend. Crafty hugs! ~ Alanna
