A Slimline Hugs Card for Whimsy Stamps

Wednesday, September 18, 2019

Have you all seen the amazing new Slimline dies from Whimsy Stamps? They are beyond incredible and genius.  Slimline cards are all the rage right now and this lineup of dies makes it that much easier to create fun slimline cards.

For now, there are 3 of these fun and unique dies. You can find them here

For my card today, I am using the Slimline Marquee die.  I started by creating my card base which measures just about 3.5 x 7 inches.

I die cut a piece of white card stock using the Slimline Marquee die and then got to work adding some various Distress inks over top of it. From top to bottom, I used Squeezed Lemonade, Wild Honey, Barn Red and Gathered Twigs.

I then added some water droplets in the background by just flicking some water in my hand on top of my inked panel.  I just love the texture this gives.

I then pulled out each of the 3 inner portions that the die creates and stamped them each with the same colors of ink from above using the Falling Leaves Background. I added them back into the main panel, each with some foam tape for added dimension and interest.

I then added some of the same Distress Ink colors to a piece of white card stock and inked up small areas, just enough for me to die cut some of the leaves from the Build-a-Pumpkin Patch die collection.

I added a few of them to each of the sections, a couple of them with foam tape.  I then gold heat embossed the Hugs sentiment which is from the Caregiver Hugs set.

Some Gold Rush Stone Drops from Nuvo finished off the card.

I hope you've been inspired today and will give making a slimline card a try.

Alanna, this is really pretty! I LOVE the colors and the leaf images both on the background of the shaped pieces and the die cuts. Wonderful work. What a way to welcome fall!
