Embossing with Dies and Altering Stamped Sentiments

Hi friends. I'm sharing a card today that was up on the LDRS Creative blog a couple of days ago.  It's a fun card with a  couple of fun techniques.

I started out by taking the 3 largest dies from the super fun Scalloped Rectangle Frame die collection from last month's release and taped them together using some purple tape.

I then ran this through my die cutting machine with an embossing mat to make an impression on my white card panel, rather than die cutting them.

What you are left with is awesome detail that adds a bit of something extra to what would have been otherwise a plain white card panel. I just love the look and bit of dimension this gives.

I wanted to use to super cute Goody Gumdrops stamp set with all the fun candy images in it. I colored and cut out the images and then set them aside.

I then went looking through my stash for a sentiment that might work and came across the Holly - Just Breezin' By stamp set, released a couple of months ago. The 'You're the Tweetest" sentiment caught my eye.

I inked up the sentiment using the Raven Hybrid ink, a nice crisp black ink, and inked it up. I then carefully wiped away the ink from the T in tweetest. 

I stamped the altered sentiment onto my card panel. I then took a multi-liner black pen and added the beginning S to spell out the word sweetest.

It's not perfect but I think it's good enough and it was fun to be able to stretch my supplies in a fun way.

Here's a closeup of the gumball machine from the Goody Gumdrops set and the altered sentiment. After I was done coloring it, I applied a layer of Crystal Glaze over top of it to help mimic the look of glass. I promptly set this way out of reach so I wouldn't accidentally touch it or drop something in it. (I've done that way too many times).

I let this dry overnight and then got to work on assembling my stamped and colored images.

Here's a final look at my card. I hope you've been inspired to maybe look at some of your stamps in a different light and to see what dies you might have that would look awesome embossed. Both of these tips will help you extend the life of your stamps and dies.
