Unscripted Sketches #47 and a story

Saturday, March 20, 2010

It's time for me to show you my card for this week's sketch over at Unscripted Sketches.  We've also changed things up a bit over there and there will now be a top 3 chosen by the DT.  There will also be prizes given away some weeks.  Anyway, back to the card.  I really liked the sketch but in the end, don't really like how my card came out with the 2 different patterned papers.  Oh well, I suppose.  You win some and you lose some.
***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  My Minds Eye

Stamps:  PTI Everyday Button Bits
Other:  Nesties, PTI buttons

I hope you'll play with us at Unscripted this week.  Be sure to go check out the other designer's work.

That's it for the art but if you want to keep reading to hear quite the story, than please do.  Otherwise, I'll see you here next time.

Wednesday night, Christopher got hit with a baseball bat. He came to the door bleeding and crying hysterically. After we got all the blood cleaned up, everything seemed to be okay. No stitches were required and we thought we were in the clear. A couple of hours later, he comes down and says, "Mommy, am I missing a tooth? My tongue just went into a hole".

Color us both surprised that the force of the bat knocked out a tooth but he was in such a daze that he didn't notice it until later. So, I started panicking because I wasn't sure if this was a baby tooth or not. And even if it was, would there be damage to the permanent tooth? So, I waited nearly 2 hours at the dentist the next day for him as an emergency walk-in. X-rays were taken and the dentist said it was a baby tooth and there didn't appear to be any root damage and that his permanent tooth should grow in fine. I hope he's right.

Second, we bought a new "used" car yesterday. It's a 2004 Ford Escape, a gorgeous midnight blue color. It drives like a dream, is very roomy, has really low mileage, and most importantly for Devin, is not our minivan that he has been relegated to drive the past couple of years. LOL

Alrighty now, I've filled you in on our lives a bit. Oh, and I'm still waiting to hear on my test results. I've been checking online but nothing still.  Thanks for stopping by and if you've read this long, thanks so much.  I've got some blog candy to give away with some PTI and CTMH stuff.  All you need to do is comment on this post.  Winner will be announced Monday morning and must check back then or a new winner will be drawn on Tuesday.

Have a great Saturday.  We had quite a bit of snow here yesterday so Christopher's first soccer game was cancelled so now my afternoon opened up a bit.  Devin and I will be heading out on a date night tonight so we're looking forward to that, especially going in our new ride.

Your card is very cute, Alanna! Love the button balloons.

You've had quite a week! I'm so glad Christopher's dental situation is OK and that the hit in the head wasn't serious. Ouch! Congrats on the new-to-you wheels. Fun. Waiting for your test results has got to be nerve-wracking. My fingers remain crossed for you! It sounds like you have a fun evening planned. Enjoy it along with the rest of the weekend!

Oh no! Kids!!! lol. I was at the dentist yesterday too, my son got a silver cap put on one of his molars, which he thinks is sooo cool but me... not so much. That's my money in his mouth! lol

Your card came out great. You are so creative with buttons. I always want to try something like that but I just can't see past the stamped images. Know what I mean?

I like your card. I've had a few that didn't turn out how I pictured either. :)

So glad that your son is ok!

Hi Alanna! I think you had the right idea with the card. I do love the button balloons though!

Alanna, I like the idea behind your card, especially the buttons as balloons, but I have to agree that it seems a little busy with those papers. I wonder if you matted one or both, if it might help "ground" the papers? I dunno, just a thought.

You have definitely been put through the wringer this week. I'm SO glad to hear that your son is okay after all that. Wow! Did the tooth fairy come, I wonder? That's what my kids would be most concerned with. LOL

Hope you enjoyed your date night in your new ride!

Have a super day today!
