A day at Rocky Mountain National Park

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Yesterday, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park for the day. We stopped and had lunch at Estes Park, a cute little city nestled in the mountains. It is the gateway to the park, and only about an hour to the west of us. Once we entered the park, we took Trail Ridge Road which takes you to the top of the pass. Lots of curves and steep drop offs. We stopped a few times along the way to get out and take in the beauty of it all.

There was a waterfall and water area that Christopher loved playing in. We saw several deer and elk but no bighorn sheep. It was a gorgeous day, although it did get a bit chilly when we were higher than 12,000 feet. Does anyone want to come visit and take a trip through this gorgeous park?

Steve and Heather left this morning. I'm sad to see them go. We had a great time. I'm also sad to see my vacation days at work come to an end. I've got the weekend and then it's back to work for me. I hope you all are having a terrific Saturday. I've got lots to do, of course. I'm hoping to get into the craft room and create a card for Sparkle's Christmas card challenge tomorrow. Until then, take care.

WOW, breathlessly gorgeous!! And yea, we would LOVE to come visit like tomorrow LOL! Sure would be nice to be able to be outdoors since its so ridiculously hot & humid where we are. Walking from the house to the car causes major sweating yuk! Someday we shall trek up there to see you!! The kids are getting so big and you and Devin keep looking younger!

How gorgeous! Was the park busy? I heard it was a free weekend and thought about taking my dad, but was thinking it'd be super crowded. Aren't we lucky to be living so close to such beauty?

We went to the Wildlife Experience down in Parker yesterday. Pretty cool. We'd never been before and the girls had a great time. Yay!

Enjoy your last day of vacation before hitting the salt mines again. Hugs!
