Hello friends. I have two sets of cards to share with you today using some awesome new glimmer hot foil plates from Spellbinders and Simon Hurley. Click here if you would like to see all of the products in this collection.
I am using the Geo Snowflakes and the Retro Ornaments hot foil plates. I absolutely adore these foil plates and am definitely a sucker for a full front foil plate like the Geo Snowflakes.
For my first set of cards, I started by foiling the Geo Snowflakes plate with some matte silver foil onto a piece of navy card stock. I then used the same foil and foiled the Retro Ornaments onto the same navy card stock. I used the coordinating die included in the set to cut out the ornaments. I die cut the ornament die two more times and added them behind my foiled ornaments for more dimension.
I added a bit of depth to my backgrounds by using a darker shade of navy ink and I even brought in just a touch of black ink for even more contrast. My dark backgrounds and inking were inspired by the very talented Yana Smakula.
I added the ornaments and then added foiled greetings which are from the Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips foil plate set. added some Fashion Cosmic Color Essential Pearl Dots to finish off the cards.
For my second set of cards, I started by foiling the Retro Ornaments foil plate onto a piece of blue card stock. I then took the foiled panels and embossed them using the Holly Flourish 2D embossing folder. I rounded the corners and then added the panels to some silver shimmer card stock from my stash.
I added foiled sentiments which also come from the same Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips foil plate set and then added some Fashion Cosmic Color Essential Pearl Dots to finish off the cards.
I would love to hear if you have a favorite out of the two card ideas I shared. For me, I think the first ones edged out the others just by a small bit. :)
Thanks for your visit and crafty hugs! ~ Alanna
