Trim a Tree Collection from Spellbinders with 5 Cards

Thursday, July 22, 2021

Hi friends. I had the opportunity to play with the brand new Trim a Tree collection of products just released from Spellbinders and have 5 projects to share with you today. This collection has 3 SKUs in it that all work together seamlessly.

For my first two cards, I just used the O Christmas Tree dies. I started by taking the Tartan patterned paper from Whimsy Stamps and die cut it using the largest die from the Picot Petite Rectangles die collection from Spellbinders for the fun decorative edge. I then die cut the solid tree image from a light green card stock and the layered portion from a darker shade of green.

I adhered the pieces together and then added these to my patterned paper with some thin foam tape. I then too some enamel dots from stash and added my "ornaments".

I finished off the cards with some foiled greetings. The sentiments are just 2 of the glimmer plates in the new Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Glimmer Hot Foil & die set collection.

For my next project, I started by doing some ink blending directly onto my card base. I first added in some yellow for the moon and then added in some shades of blues and black to create a night time sky.
I then die cut the solid tree from the O Christmas Tree die collection from some green card stock and then took the new Layered Christmas Tree stencil and added embossing paste over top of my trees.

Once these were dry, I added these to my card base. I free hand cut some snowy banks and stamped a sentiment from an older MFT stamp set. The top snowbank was added with foam tape and I added just a touch of Tumbled Glass Distress Ink to the snowbanks. I finished off the card by adding in some falling snow using my white gel pen.

For my next card, I created a slimline card using just the Layered Christmas Tree stencil. I added in a light green ink using the base layer of the stencil 3 different times and then used a darker shade of green ink and the layering portion of the stencil for the detail.

The stencil comes with a section of falling snow which I laid directly over my trees and added a thin layer of embossing paste over top. I finished off the card by foiling a sentiment with some green foil. It is from the same glimmer collection I used above - the Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Glimmer Hot Foil & die set collection.

For my final card today, I started by using the Shining Christmas Tree Glimmer hot foil plate and foiling it onto some white card stock with silver foil. I then took the outline die from the O Christmas Tree die collection and die cut it out.

I die cut the tree a second time and added it behind for just a bit of added dimension. I added my tree to a piece of patterned paper which is from the Bokeh Bliss collection from Whimsy Stamps.

If you've made it this far, thank you so much. What do you think? Do you have a favorite of the cards I shared today? I absolutely adore this collection of products and can't wait to make some more Christmas cards using it. And the best part? I now have 5 Christmas cards for my stash, ready to send out in just a few months. :)

Wishing you all a very happy day. Thanks for stopping by. Crafty hugs! ~ Alanna

These cards are beautiful, Alanna. How wonderful to have added to your Christmas card stash so nicely. It's really hard to pick a favorite, but I have to say my eye was really drawn to the snowy scene with the moon. Kind of reminds me of a snowy winter night here. :) Congrats on the designer spot and thanks for sharing these lovely cards. :)
