A Slimline Card Blog Hop

Friday, August 28, 2020

Hi friends and happy Friday. I am joining some of the other Whimsy Stamps design team members today on Instagram with a Slimline Dies Instagram hop.

If you head over to Instagram and start with @whimsystamps, that's where the hop begins with tons of fabulous inspiration and a $25 gift voucher to the Whimsy Stamps store.   There is also a second hop that starts on the Whimsy Stamps YouTube channel where there is even more inspiration and another chance to win.

Did you know that Whimsy Stamps was the first store to bring Slimline dies to the market last year? What a game changer in the world of cardmaking to make it even easier and more fun to create slimline cards.

I am sharing my cards here also today. For my first card, I started by taking the Slimline Filmstrip die and cutting it twice, once out of red card stock and once out of white.

I then took the super cute Crittercorns set and stamped a couple of the fun images onto the center white portions that the die cuts out. I colored them up and then took the final center die cut and stamped 3 of the sentiments from the set along with the fun star balloons.

I added these stamped panels to pieces of black card stock and then used my paper trimmer and corner rounder to give my panels a pop of black to help them stand out on my card better.

I adhered everything to my card base which measures 3.5 x 8.5 inches. I finished off the card by die cutting the Slimline Stars die from Tonic Studios Black Sapphire glitter card stock. I took some of the inside stars and added them to my card for a finishing touch.

I decided to make a second card using the leftover pieces from my first card.

I added my Slimline Filmstrip positive and negative pieces to a black card base. I then took the Boo die collection and die cut the ghosts and word 2 times, once out of regular black card stock and once out of the same black glitter card stock I used in my first card. I added these layers together and then stamped my sentiment on the center panel which is from last year's Candle Creeps set. I thought the sentiment was perfect to go with these fun ghosts.

I adhered my die cuts and this card is complete.

I hope you've been inspired today and will pop on over to Instagram. Crafty hugs! ~ Alanna
