Whimsy Stamps September Release Day 1

Sunday, September 1, 2019

Hi friends.  Can you believe it's September 1st? It's hard to believe that 2019 is already 2/3 over. But the first of the month means it's time for a new release from Whimsy Stamps and this one is absolutely terrific.

I have two cards to share with you today, using the beautiful new Falling Leaves Background cling stamp. I absolutely love this stamp and have so many ideas for it.  You'll be seeing me use it a lot the next few months for sure.

For my first card, I started by gold heat embossing the Falling Leaves Background image onto some water color paper.

I then used some Distress inks to do some easy water coloring over the background. I used shades of red, yellow, green and even some brown.

After my panel was dry, I die cut it using the largest die from the Shaker Maker Rectangle die collection.

I then took several more pieces of cream card stock and die cut it a few times more so that I could add dimension to the frame. I wanted to make a shaker card without having to use foam tape. I really like the look of shaker cards made this way without the use of foam tape as I think it gives the card a more polished look.

I created the shaker portion of the card and then I got to work on the sentiment. I gold heat embossed the Hello sentiment which is from the Bold Statements set. I use this set a lot as there are so many great sentiments in it.

I added it to my card and then decided to add a few leaves that I die cut from the new Build-a-Pumpkin Patch die collection. There are so many great dies in this collection and I'll have two more cards later this week using it.

For my second card, I wanted to stamp the Falling Leaves Background with just some ink but wanted it to be in multiple colors.  I brought out my Misti to do so and took some min ink cubes and added them in various spots to my background.

I repeated this process with the various shades of ink and kept re-stamping the image multiple times.

I matted the panel on top of some gold mirror card stock. I also added a stacked Hello die cut that I made using the Bold ABC die collection.  The top layer is the same gold mirror card stock.

Some jute tied around the top of the card finishes it off.

Here's another look at both cards again. I hope you've been inspired and if you are thinking of purchasing anything from the new Whimsy Stamps release, I'd love for you to leave me a comment to let me know what your favorite product is from the release.

Crafty hugs!

Oh wow, Alanna! These look fantastic! What a great background stamp and you really showed its versatility here with the two ways you used it. That shaker card is just stunning. I like the idea of cutting the extra pieces rather than using foam. And the multi colored stamped background is so pretty. Excellent work, my friend!! Crafty hugs to you!
