Unscripted Sketches #61

Saturday, June 26, 2010

Good morning to you.  It's a bright and sunny day here in Colorado and I'm happy to be bringing you another card for this week's Unscripted sketch.

Did you play along with last week's sketch?  Make sure and check out the blog to see if you were chosen as one of the top 3 for the week.  If you didn't play, you should still hop over there to see this week's sketch and to play yourself.

And are you getting excited for the Christmas in July event that Unscripted is doing?  I know I am.  There's going to be so much fun going on and hopefully some of it will inspire you to start thinking about the upcoming holiday season.  I know it's still 6 months away but time tends to slip away from us all, right?

Now don't ask my why I chose to make a Halloween card in June but I did. At least I'll have one card to send out in a few months because who knows if I'll ever make another one. I seem to struggle getting holiday cards made, except my Christmas ones. :)

***Supplies***
Patterened Paper:  Basic Grey Eerie

Stamps:  CTMH Say it in Style
Other:  PTI buttons, Fiskars border punch

So do you all have any plans for today and this weekend?  Devin's back in town now so I think he and I are going to try and sneak out for a date night.  Not sure what we're doing yet but that's okay.

Coming soon -- Christmas in July for Unscripted Sketches

Friday, June 25, 2010

Happy Friday to you!!!  Unscripted Sketches will be having a Christmas in July event all month starting in just a few short days.  There has already been one important announcement over at the Unscripted blog so be sure and check it out.  There will be something every day and it's going to be a lot of fun.

A dog for Penny's challenges

Wednesday, June 23, 2010

Yeah for Wednesday.  It's time for another challenge at Penny's Paper Crafty Challenge Blog.  The challenge this week is to use a dog in your creation.  Why?  Because 55 years ago yesterday, 6/22/55, Lady and the Tramp was released from Walt Disney.  What a classic movie.

I had a lot of fun making this card and am happy to have another boy birthday card for my stash.  Such a sweet image and fun paper.  Makes me want to get a puppy for Christopher 'cuz he'd sure give it a lot of love.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey Max and Whiskers

Stamps:  The Greeting Farm; CTMH Happy Birthday
Other:  PTI twill ribbon

Make sure and head over to the challenge blog to see what the other designers have for you.  And then come play with us and link up your card.  You could win some free digis.

Thanks for your visit.  I hope you have a splendid day friends.  I'll see you here another time.

Wedding pictures

Monday, June 21, 2010

Happy Monday to you.  Can a person actually say that?  LOL.

I have some pictures of my friend's wedding to share.  These were just taken with my brother's camera after the ceremony.  Unfortunately, the couple that we got of the whole family are very blurry.  :(  When we get some of the professional ones, I'll post those as well.

I have to say that my kids look absolutely fabulous.  I've never seen them look more grown up.  And Christohper in the suit just knocks my socks off.

Thanks for indulging me.  Take care.

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #29 -- A recipe challenge with a twist

Sunday, June 20, 2010

It's time for Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenge.  The optional challenge this week is a recipe challenge with a twist.  The recipe:  3 patterned papers, 2 buttons, 1 ribbon.  The twist:  to use a transparency.

I'm sorry for the awful photo.  I had such a hard time not getting the glare from the transparency to show.  I covered the entire card front with a piece of transparency and attached it up top with just a bit of vellum glue dots.

As usual, I'll also enter this into Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  CTMH

Stamps:  PTI Signature Christmas
Other:  Nesties, CTMH ribbon, PTI buttons, transparency

You'll definitely want to check out the other designer's work.  There is so much talent over there.  Take care and I'll see you back here another day.

Unscripted Sketches #60

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Happy Saturday to you.  It's time for another fabulous sketch from Unscripted Sketches.  I loved this sketch and really enjoyed working with it.

I've got a special date with my little man today.  Christopher and I are going mini-golfing and to McDonalds, both his choices.  With Devin and Reynna both gone, I thought it would be fun for him and I to do some special activities.
***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  Friends til the End from PTI

Stamps:  PTI Signature Greetings
Other:  MS border punch, PTI buttons

Thanks for your visit.  I hope you'll play along with this week's sketch.  Blessings to each of you for a most fabulous day.

Thank You

Thursday, June 17, 2010

I've got a real simple card for you today but I love how it turned out.  I'm enjoying making these flowers with bookprint.  I also got out the sewing machine to do a bit of stitching on this one.  And I love this paper.  So pretty.
***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  PTI Green Tea Leaves

Other:  Fiskars border punch, rub on from my stash, PTI button and bookprint

Devin is leaving this morning for a week in California.  I suprised him with a trip to see his best friend out there for Father's Day.  I thought that he might like to have a week away from kids and responsibilities.  So it will just be me and Christopher for a week.  I think that will be the first time that's ever happened so it should be good for the two of us.  He can get more of his mama's attention.

I'm happy that it's Thursday and closer to the weekend.  I hope that you all have a wonderful day.

Thank you with a poofy flower

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

I've got just a quick card for you today which was inspired by Dawn McVey
***Supplies***
Patterned paper:  PTI In Bloom

Stamps:  PTI
Other:  MS border punch, PTI button, bookprint

I hope you have a great day.  Reynna leaves for Michigan today.  She is flying solo and Devin will be taking her to the airport and getting an escort pass.  She'll be visiting my brother and his family for 3 weeks.  She is super excited and saved her money to pay for half of the plane ticket.  She has been looking forward to this for more than a year now.  I'll miss you my sweet baby.

I've been a nervous wreck the past couple of days worrying that things won't go smoothly at the airport.  Lots of extra paperwork and things to do when there is an unaccompanied minor involved.

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #28 -- Use your scraps

Sunday, June 13, 2010

It's time for another challenge at Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenges.  The optional theme this week besides making a Christmas or holiday card is to use up your scraps.  We all have them and I know that they can get out of control.  It was nice not to cut up any full sheets of paper for this card.

I'll also enter this into the challenge at Bah Humbug and Fab's Big Christmas Cards Challenge.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  Basic Grey

Stamps:  The Greeting Farm, PTI Signature Christmas
Other:  Cuttlebug, Liquid Applique
The rest of the design team has some great cards for you this week so go check it out.  And did you know that there's only a little more than 6 months until Christmas?  A great time to start thinking about getting a head start on your cards for 2010.

Unscripted Sketches #59

Saturday, June 12, 2010

Yeah for Saturday.  Do you have any big plans?  At the moment, we don't which is good.  I should say other than the usual cleaning and laundry which didn't get done throughout the week.  We do have to get Reynna packed as she leaves for Michigan next Tuesday.

It's time for another fabulous sketch at Unscripted Sketches.  Did you check out the changes made on the blog last week?  Looks great, right?

**Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  PTI In Bloom
Stamps:  The Greeting Farm, PTI Signature Greetings

Other:  PTI button

Make sure and go see what the other designers came up with and then we'd love to have you play along.  And as always, blessings for a fabulous day.  See you back here tomorrow with my weekly Christmas card.

Penny's challenge photo inspired

Wednesday, June 9, 2010

Happy Wednesday to you.  It's time for another challenge at Penny's challenges.  Our new challenge leader, Courtney, has picked this photo for us to use as inspiration for our projects.  I immediately was drawn to the umbrella and started with that.  Unforunately for me, I don't have any stamps with umbrellas so I went to my handy dandy gypsy and searched for umbrella images that my cricut could cut.

I'm going to give this to Reynna's piano teacher this week as a thank you for all her hard work and for being a great teacher so I was excited to use the musical notes embossing folder.

***Supplies***
Stamps:  CTMH Thank You

Other:  Cuttlebug, Cricut A Child's Year, PTI buttons

Make sure and head over to the challenge blog to see the eye candy from the other designers and then play along.  Have a great day.

Wedding thank you

Tuesday, June 8, 2010

I thought I'd share part of my present for the wedding this past weekend.  I used some of the leftover specialty paper from the invites to create these cards.  I layered a piece of vellum over the paper, just as was done with the invites.  The paper has a nice texture and is silver embossed.  Very pretty irl.

I had enough paper to make 23 thank you cards.  I thought they might think it was fun to have some thank yous that matched their invites.

***Supplies***
Patterned paper:  ??? from Hobby Lobby

Stamps:  PTI Signature Greetings
Other:  Vellum
So did you survive your Monday?  My day at work was okay.  Christohper started karate last night and seemed to enjoy it.  Today, I'll be doing lunch with some girlfriends so I'm looking forward to that.  I hope that your day is absolutely fabulous.

Sparkle's Christmas Card Challenge #27 -- Cut it out and pop it up

Sunday, June 6, 2010

My card today is for this week's challenge at Sparkle Creations Christmas Card Challenges which is to cut it out and pop it up, which is what I did with my focal image, also courtesy of the lovely Sparkle.

I'll also entere this into Fab's Big Christmas Card Challenge.  It also fits this week's challenge at Frosted Designs which is to use buttons.
***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  My Minds Eye

Stamps:  RAK image, PTI Signature Christmas
Other:  PTI buttons
The wedding was a success, only a few minor hiccups in the morning.  When I got to the bride's dressing room, my friend was in tears because the lilies in our bouquets were completely closed.  How in the world does that happen?  She was so upset.  A quick trip to the store to get some roses to add to them and she was okay but still furious at the store who did the bouquets.  I'm sure that there will be more to tell about that saga later.

It was a good day but man were we all exhausted.  My brother is also good friends with the bride and took some family pics of us so I'll post them as soon as he sends them to me.

I hope you have a great Sunday.  My house is in shambles so I'll be doing some cleaning along with attending church.  Thanks for your visit and take care.

Unscripted sketches #58 and a wedding

Saturday, June 5, 2010

Happy Saturday to you.  It's time for another sketch at Unscripted Sketches and this one's fantastic.  Make sure and check out the challenge blog to look at the sketch and to see what the other designers came up with.  There are also some changes over there so take a peek to see the new layout.

My image came from the very lovely and talented Sparkle who so generously sent me some images. Thanks so much Sparkle, you truly are the best.

You can't really tell but I used the clear spica glitter pen to color in the wings.  What great pens those are.  I won a set of 12 from a challenge site several months ago and have just now started to play with them.  I love the sparkly look they give.  I also stamped the fa la la directly onto the ribbon a few times.

***Supplies***
Stamps:  RAK image

Other:  Cuttlebug, MS border punch, ribbon from my stash

In non-papercrafting news, last night was Greeley's Relay for Life.  I wasn't an official team member this year because of the wedding (see below) but did make it back in time to go hang with my team for a bit and walk a couple of laps.  Cancer is an ugly, ugly thing and I would love to see a cure for it in my lifetime.  Makes me sad to think that it was only a few months ago that I lost my sweet Uncle to the wretched disease.

So today is my friend's wedding.  You might recall several months ago I said I was making wedding invites.  I made 150 invites, something I don't ever want to do again soon. LOL  But she is a very good friend who I've known for 10 years.  She is "Aunt" Andrea to my kids and I consider myself to be "Aunt" Alanna to her baby girl, Irelynd.  I'm a bridesmaid, Reynna is a flower girl, and Christopher is the ring bearer.  Lots of stuff going on.

We went to the rehearsal yesterday and the venue was so gorgeous -- Stonebrook in Thornton, Colorado.  I can't wait to see it all decked out with the flowers and everything else.  I've got to get up at 4:30 to make it to the salon at 5:15 to get my hair done.  Yikes.   Anyway, I'll be back later to report how it all went.  Hopefully smooth sailing.

If you've made it this far, thanks for sticking with me.  As always, best wishes to each of my readers.  Have a most blessed Saturday.

Dude, you rock

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Sorry it's been so quiet around here.  Between reading Eclipse and trying to get ready for my friend's wedding this weekend, it's been kind of crazy.  Also, we (and by we, I mean me) LOL decided to give the kids' bathroom a facelift.  A fresh coat of paint and some new decor and it looks good as new.  So inviting.  Reynna was bummed that it looked a bit too grown up.  I reminded her that it also serves as a guest bathroom.  Anyway, I'm really pleased with how it ended up.

I found this paper in my stash and thought it would go perfect with this little boy.  He reminds me of Christopher with all the animals surrounding him.  My Christopher is an animal lover for sure.  I plan on sending this to my nephew for his birthday this summer.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  Bo Bunny (I think)

Stamps:  The Greeting Farm, PTI Signature Greetings
Other:  Brads from my stash

I hope you're having a good week.  Hoorah for tomorrow being Friday.  I just love a short work week, that's for sure.  I'll see you back here with my card for Unscripted on Saturday.
