Penny's challenges -- Sketch #3
Wednesday, September 30, 2009
Penny's got another great sketch this week for you to try. My card is also for this week's Cute Card Thursday challenge, which is to use yellow and black. It also fits the bill for Papertake Weekly whose challenge is black and white + 1.
I decided to pull out my neglected thank you cuttlebug embossing folder. I really like the folders like this with all the different words but don't find myself reaching for them very often.

***Supplies***
Other: Cuttlebug, CTMH buttons and waxy flax
Be sure and head over to Penny's challenges to check out what the other design team members have for you. You can also find all the links to their blogs on my sidebar.

Hawaiian Day
Tuesday, September 29, 2009
I mentioned how last week was Homecoming week at the kids' and Devin's school. Each day, there was a different theme for dressing for the day. One day was Hawaiian day. I just snapped a few photos of the kids before school. We had gotten Christohper a lei but he told me in a disgusted voice that he could only wear it if he saw other boys wearing them. Well, he must have decided that it was okay because Devin said he saw him with it on. Boy, it sure starts early, huh?
Oh, and don't you love how the shots I got of Christopher, he's being silly? I guess I shouldn't be surprised at all. That's my boy and my Reynna, well, she's just happy to pose for the camera.

Hot air Balloons
Monday, September 28, 2009
Today's card makes use of my favorite stamp set again. This time with the hot air balloons. The challenge at Whimsy Stamps is to use buttons.
***Supplies***
Patterned paper: PTI Friends til the End
Stamps; PTI Everyday Button Bits, CTMH Say it in Style
Other: Nesties, PTI ribbon and buttons, Cuttlebug
Well, it's back to another Monday. Is it me or do Monday's seem to come around more often than Friday's?

Live United--helping out at a Habitat house
Sunday, September 27, 2009
I'm finally posting a couple of pics of Reynna and me after we came home from helping out at the Habitat house renovation a couple of weeks ago. As you can see, we were very dirty. She and I ripped out old carpet and then joined in on the popcorn ceiling removal team. What a mess that was. We had to soak the ceiling with water, let it sit for a few minutes, and then used putty knives to scrape off the ceiling. It was literally raining wet, gooey, popcorn ceiling on us.
These were both things that I've never done before and I came home and told Devin that when we replace our carpet with hardwood floors, which is what I want to do sometime in the future, that I was all set on how to remove the carpet. Granted, it wasn't very hard. The razor blade did most of the work but still.

Oh, and the white thing around my neck is the face mask that we all wore. There was so much crap in the air that we needed to protect our noses and mouths from breathing it all in. Reynna had already taken hers off.

Unscripted week #25 -- Christmas Pajamas
Saturday, September 26, 2009
I decided to make a layout with this week's Unscripted Sketches sketch. This will be the right side of my layout, as I always make 2 page spreads. I still need to work on the left side, which will include my journaling.
***Supplies***
Patterned paper: CTMH Jingle
Other: Making Memories rub-ons, Marvy snowflake punch, PTI buttons
Thanks for the visit and be sure to check out the other DT members art. I can't wait to see what you do with this sketch.

Thanks for being my friend
Friday, September 25, 2009
I used this week's sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges for my card today. I'm totally loving this card except I'm not sure about all the white space above my sentiment. I thought about adding something, like maybe a stamped flourish or something but was afraid that I might make things worse so I decided to leave it as is. What do you think?
***Supplies***
Patterned Paper: PTI Friends til the End
Stamps: CTMH Thank you
Other: Cuttlebug, Nesties, EK Success flower punch, Fiskars border punch, CTMH adhesive pearls
Well, we made it to Friday. Any big plans for the weekend? None here. Devin's got homecoming festivities to attend to so I probably won't be seeing much of him. Who knows what I'll do once I'm out of work today. In any event, I hope your Friday is fantastic.

Pink Christmas
Thursday, September 24, 2009
I decided to go outside the traditional norm for Christmas and use pink and brown for a Christmas card. What do you think? Too weird? Interestingly enough, it did get Devin's nod of approval, which doesn't necessarily happen all that often.
I started with this week's sweet Sunday sketch at Karen's blog. The challenge at OCC is to use pink, hot pink chocolate, and white. 2RedBananas challenge for the week is easy as 1-2-3. One piece of ribbon, 2 stamped images, and 3 gems. The challenge at Stamp Something is to use your favorite colors or paper. Well, pink is definitely my favorite color and I love it paired with brown.
***Supplies***
Patterned paper: CTMH More to Adore
Stamps: CTMH Vintage Christmas
Other: CTMH adhesive pearls, ribbon from my stash, Cuttlebug
Well, it's one day closer to the weekend. Have a fantastic Thursday. And thanks for the congratulations on my exam. I am still on cloud 9.

A 77
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
This is my 2nd post today. Scroll down for my Penny's challenge post.
I took my regulation part of my test 4 1/2 weeks ago for the 5th time. This morning, I found out that I PASSED! A 75 is needed and I got a 77!!!!!!!
I am doing the biggest happy dance ever. This has been SUCH a struggle for me. I appreciate the fact that they just don't want to be giving anyone a CPA license but never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be this hard.
Anyway, I am now just 1 test away from my license. I'm three quarters of the way there. I cannot believe it. I am still in shock. I could go on rambling for quite some time here but I'll just go saying that today should be a good day! And thank you to everyone who wished me well the past few weeks when I took the exam and as I've waited for it.

A simple owl card
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
The challenge this week at Penny's challenges is to make something with some type of bird on it. The Paper Makeup Monday Challenge this week is to use punches. I chose to use my cute little owl punch for the bird aspect. My card is real simple but I wanted the focal point to be the pretty paper and the owl. (Okay, you got me. I really only know how to do simple.) LOL.
***Supplies***
Patterned paper: PTI Friends til the End
Other: MS Owl punch, Fiskars border punch, PTI ribbon
Be sure to go give some love to the other design team members over at Penny's challenges. You won't be disappointed. And then link up your creation using birds. Have a great Wednesday.

Thanks a Bunch
Tuesday, September 22, 2009
I've got a card for several challenges which include the sketch from Card Patterns, Color Dare for the colors, Polka Doodles for the handmade flower, and Pile it On for punches. I used several different circle punches to make my flower. BTW, I had a fun time making this type of flower, which I've seen a few of in blogland. I also threaded my waxy flax through the button and each flower layer, meaning that no tape was harmed in the making of this flower. LOL.

***Supplies***
Patterned paper: CTMH Life Delights
Stamps: CTMH Thank You
Other: Nesties, PTI button, CTMH waxy flax, multiple circle punches
I'll see you back here tomorrow with my card for Penny's challenges. Have a great Tuesday.

So I couldn't help myself and had to use this set again. I'm honestly not sure if I'll ever get sick of it. Just one challenge for today's card which is to use ribbon for Paper Maniac.
***Supplies***
Stamps: PTI Everyday Button Bits
Other: Cuttlebug, PTI buttons, ribbon from my stash, Nesties
I'm glad the Broncos won yesterday. They still need a lot of work but you can't start out the season at this point better than 2-0 so that's good. Thanks for the visit and have a great Monday.

Merry Christmas with Stickers
Sunday, September 20, 2009
Here's my card for Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenge. It's also for PaperPlay Challenges which wants you to use tags. I honestly can't believe that I've been making Christmas cards this entire year. I am SO excited to be able to send out handmade cards this year.
As I was looking through my sticker stash, I saw a page from Doodlebug Designs that still haven't been used on a scrapbook page so I thought that I'd do something new for me and use stickers on a card. I put these cardstock sticker tags on a punched circle and then pop dotted them to give some dimension. I love the way it turned out.

***Supplies***
Stamps: CTMH So Sweet Seasons
Other: Cuttlebug, Doodlebug stickers, CTMH brads. ribbon from my stash, Fiskars border punch
In other news, I'm totally bummed about yesterday's BYU loss to Florida State in college football. The hopes of a national championship have pretty much gone out the window. Devin loves that I love sports but he also says it's hard because since I am a woman, I bring a lot of emotion to it and that I take it too seriously. I think he might be right but I can't help it.
I hope that you're having a great day. I'm off to church in a bit and then it will be time to watch my Denver Broncos, hopefully win. Until next time, take good care.

Hello There
Friday, September 18, 2009

Swirls and Pearls with a new challenge site
Thursday, September 17, 2009
I found a new challenge site this week while blurfing, Crazy 4 Challenges. I combined the sketch with the challenge over at Cupcake Craft Challenges, which is to use swirls and pearls. I decided to do something which I rarely do, which is to use my cricut for a card. I chose the flower from Accent Essentials that cuts out multiple layers. I cut the same flower twice, once in white and then once in black cardstock and then just layered the flower. After I glued it down, of course, I was thinking that it would have been cool to add some texture to the white parts of the flower with my cuttlebug. Oh well. Hindsight is 20-20, right? My card size is 6x6.

***Supplies***

Other: Cricut (Accent Essentials cartridge), CTMH adhesive pearls

Monday, September 14, 2009
I started this card with this week's sketch over at Card Patterns. It also qualifies for the challenge over at Our Creative Corner, which is to make a fall card. Paper play wants to see something without any patterned paper and Stamp Something wants you to use your favorite embellishment. 1 guess as to what my favorite is. :)

Stamps: CTMH Four Seasons
Other: Cuttlebug, PTI buttons
I suppose it's Monday now. Is it just me or do weekends somehow go into some sort of warp speed? Thank you for your visit to my spot in the world today. Have a great Monday.

Let it Snow
Sunday, September 13, 2009
I won some blog candy from Sparkle and included was a piece of this cute snowman paper. I used it as my starting point to make this week's Christmas card for Sparkle's challenge. I wanted to bring in a couple of colors from the paper so I chose red and black. Also, while blurfing, I found another challenge blog, Crafty Creations. Their challenge this week is to use embossing.

Stamps: CTMH Christmas Scripts
Other: Cuttlebug, CTMH ribbon and brads, Nesties
I hope you have a great Sunday. I'll be tending to a pulled muscle and other aches and pains that stemmed from my help at the Habitat house yesterday. More on that to come later.
