Color Chef Challenge #4

Thursday, April 30, 2009

I had a moment to make this card. I used Kelly Jo's color chef challenge. I ran each piece of the card front through my cuttlebug with the swiss dots embossing folder. Stamp set is from CTMH and is part of the new May Stamp of the Month, not yet available. I had originally planned on putting one of the sentiments from the set where the flower is. Unfortunately, I stamped it funny and it didn't look good at all. Thus, a flower was born. Never any mistakes in stamping, right? Just opportunities for embellishments.

Now, how about them Nuggets? Woo Hoo. I'm so thrilled that after 20 years, they've made it past the first round of the playoffs. Last night's game where they clinched the series was on much too late so I only got to watch the first quarter. They ended up winning by 21 points. A far cry from the 58 point margin of victory they had the other night but still a Hornet's spanking. I'll be looking forward to the next round where we take on the Dallas Mavericks. GO NUGGETS!

A card for my Mom

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

I had a chance on Sunday to play a little in my craft area. I made this card for my mom for Mother's Day. I combined 3 challenges into this card. 2 Red Bananas challenged participants to use stripes. OCC issued an easy-peasy challenge, which was to use your favorite color combination. Lastly, I used a sketch from Sunday Sketch & Stamp, their first ever. Anyhoo, back to the particulars of my card.

Card size is 6x6. DP is Life Delights. Stamp used is Simple Beauty. I used my CTMH markers to color the image. Some chocolate ribbon and matching buttons finish off the card. All products are CTMH.

As always, thanks for stopping by. Have a great day. Hopefully, I'll see you back here tomorrow.

A Fashion Show

Monday, April 27, 2009

This is my second post for the day. Scroll down to see more family pictures if you're interested.

These are pictures of Reynna and her friend Aspen that I took from the same weekend that I blogged about in my previous post. The girls decided to play dress-up so I thought I'd take a few pictures. They seemed to have a lot of fun changing clothes and posing for the camera. Ahhh, to be 9 years old again.

Two little monkeys

Monday, April 27, 2009

Two weekends ago, we watched our good friend's children so they could go out on a date night. They reciprocated for us this past weekend. Thanks Shannon.

When I went to check on the boys, I found that they had taken all the blankets and stuffed animals off the beds in Christopher's bedroom. Christohper has a lot of these items. They were jumping off the ladder onto their pile of animals and blankets. I snapped a few photos of them just hanging out.

Season's Greetings

Sunday, April 26, 2009

I had a little time befre church this morning to make my Christmas card for Sparkle's weekly challenge. I used Karen's sweet Sunday sketch that she posted this morning.

My card is 4.5 inches square. Paper is from CTMH's Evensong paper packet. Don't you love the stained glass look? Sentiment is from CTMH as well, although the name of the set is escaping me at the moment. Some New England Ivy brads and olive ribbon finish off the card.

I'm not sure what I will do this afternoon. Possibly stamp or maybe take a nap. Probably nothing too stressful. I need to gear up for another busy week. I hope your day is all that you hoped it would be. Thanks for taking the time to stop by. Have a great one.

My card for an Earth Day challenge

Thursday, April 23, 2009

I made this card tonight for Sparkle's Odd Bird Planet Earth Day challenge, which was to use brown, blue, and green, in honor of Earth Day. I also used CPS's sketch this week, which was kind of different but I like how my card turned out.

Card size is 8x3. I haven't made one this size in a long time. I suppose it's good to mix things up every once in a bit. DP is the Caprice paper packet from CTMH. Sentiment is from the Say it in Sytle stamp set, also CTMH. Flowers and buttons are from some blog candy I won awhile back.

Sorry about the poor picture quality and the shadows. I couldn't get any take to look good.

I miss you

Thursday, April 23, 2009

Here's a card using a new sketch site I found, Unscripted Sketches. This is only their second sketch. All consumable products used are from CTMH.

I hope you have a great Thursday. I plan on crafting tonight while Devin's at class, so look back for something tomorrow.

A little boy birthday card

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Okay, I made it through my exam this morning and now comes the almost even harder part. The waiting. I've had to wait up to 8 weeks for results before, which is pure torture. I appreciate everyone's well wishes. If I passed, I'm sure it was because of all the prayers and wishes sent my way.

I decided to use Karen's Sunday sketch for my card today. I wanted a birthday card that would be suited to give to a little boy. I'm not sure that I succeeded but it's better than something with flowers on it, I suppose. The stamps are from CTMH and the dp is some old stuff from my stash.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me some love. I sure do appreciate it. Have a great day.

A long overdue artwork post

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Can you believe how long it's been since I last posted some art? I've got a pretty good reason. My exam is in 2 days and I've really put studying on the front burner this past week, which means that my true love of paper crafting has had to play last place fiddle. Yesterday morning, however, I was about to crack. I desperately needed to get down and make a card. I was having serious withdrawels. My card is for Amy's weekly sketch and Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenge.

Supplies used include a RAK bella paired with BG's wassail paper. I'm having so much fun using that paper on my Christmas cards as of late. The sentiment is from CTMH. If you look real hard, you can see the liquid applique that I used on Bella's boots and hat.

I probably won't be back until after Tuesday. If you care to send some good vibes and thougths my way that I'll pass this exam on Tuesday, I'd sure love them. I'm retaking the exam part that I missed passing by 1 point a couple of months ago.

As always, thanks for stopping by and visiting my little spot in the world. Have a terrific Sunday and I'll see you later in the week, hopefully half way there to becoming a CPA.

Christopher's very first soccer game

Saturday, April 18, 2009

Christopher had his very first soccer game last week. It was a cold and rained on and off but he and his team had fun. He was supposed to have another game today but it's been raining for the past 2 days straight, so it was cancelled.

Happy Easter!

Sunday, April 12, 2009

First, thanks for the well wishes for Reynna. We finally got her some medicine, not the original one prescribed but the pharmacist said the one we ended up with would be okay and that it was in the same class as the other prescribed medicine. Already, I can tell such a difference in Reynna. Here's hoping for a full recovery.

The Easter bunny made a trip to our house sometime last night and left the kids some goodies. Reynna got the Taylor Swift CD that she's been wanting. Christohper got a new Webkinz, the cotton candy bunny. Of course, there was lots of candy. Maybe they'll want to share their peeps with me. I love those gooey, marshmallowy peeps.

I hope your Easter is a great one. We are going to just go to the first our of our church today, with Reynna still not 100%. I thought that she should stay home but she really didn't want to miss going on Easter. So we're compromising and just staying for the sacrement service. My parents are coming over later for dinner.

I am so thankful for this Easter Sunday and why we celebrate this day. Being very religious myself, this is a special day as we celebrate the ressurection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. What a sacrifice he made for me, you, and everyone. I love my Saviour and am so glad that He lives and that one day, I will be able to return to live with Him.

Whatever this day means for you, I hope that it's a great one.

A crazy Friday

Saturday, April 11, 2009

So, remember how I blogged earlier in the week that Reynna had been sick and had a fever on and off for 3 days? Well, the fever came back with a vengenance yesterday, accompanied with severe stomach cramping and eventually green vomit. I know, gross. A trip to her primary doctor late in the afternoon led us straight to the emergency room to have a battery of tests done. It was an excruciating night, filled with chest X-rays, waiting, worry, tears from Reynna, and lots of poking on Reynna to find her veins to give her a much needed IV. More than 5 hours later, we finally, had our diagnosis. Pneumonia and a urinary tract infection. WHAT?

So today, I go to Walmart to have her prescription filled. I wait around for an hour and then come back only to have them tell me that they are out of stock of this medicine. By this time, it was time for Christopher's soccer game, (which I'll be posting pictures of later), so I gave up on the medicine for a moment. After the game, we made a trip to Sams Club. Only to find out, at least up front, that he doesn't have this particular medicine either. Several calls to different local pharmacies yield the same results. This pharmacist was so nice and helpful and currently has a call in to the ER's attending phsycian to see if the scrip can be changed to a medicine that is in stock.

So, Reynna still does not have her much needed medicine. She did get a nice big dose last night via her IV but my girl needs more. Hopefully the pharmacist will call soon with good news. And then, I can travel to the other side of town and pick it up.

A big shout out to my dear friend Shannon who watched Christopher for us last night while we dealt with all this. No way would any of us have survived the ER trip with him in tow.

Mojo Monday #81

Saturday, April 11, 2009

Here's my take on Mojo Monday's sketch #81. It's also my submission for Vicki's awesome anniversary blog candy. She's got some great stuff up for grabs and all you have to do is make a birthday or anniversary card. Easy peasy.

Anyway, on to the details of my card. Paper is Boom-di-ada Creative Basics. Stamp set is Today's Date. Embellishments include hollyhock ricrac and brads. All are CTMH.

Color Chef challenge #1

Friday, April 10, 2009

Kelly Jo, a fellow CTMH consultant has started weekly Color Chef challenges. See it here. This week was easy. Breeze, sweet leaf, and white daisy. I desperately wanted to go down to my basement and make something. Saturday was the last day I was able to do anything down there. I didn't have a lot of time so I just made a real simple card. I'm really liking the argyle embossing folder and think that it steps the card up just a notch. I'm planning on making several of these to give as a gift. All products other than the cuttlebug folder are CTMH.

Hooray for it being Friday. And Good Friday, at that. I hope your day is fabulous.

A simple Easter card

Wednesday, April 8, 2009

My card today is one I whipped up over this past weekend for the challenge at Our Creative Corner. The challenge this week was to make an easter card or project. The focal image is one I got from some blog candy from the talented Jena. You can see her blog here. I colored it with my CTMH markers and then added liquid applique. Up until a few weeks ago, I had never used the tube that had been sitting in my stamp area for quite some time. Now, it's almost gone. LOL. Anyway, I used my cuttlebug again for the card front. I really can't get enough of those swiss dots.

I hope everyone is having a great Thursday. Anyone else bummed about Scott going home last night on American Idol? I really liked him and was so impressed with how he could play the piano. He rocked. I'll miss him but knew that he would be going home at some point.

One card multiplied by 8

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

Guess what. I can make a card without using a sketch. LOL. A simple design but one that came out of my head on my own. This card is for The Pink Elephant's challenge this week which was to use punches, embossing, and stamping.

I decided to take part in a swap that some ladies are doing in my church. As I needed 8, I decided to keep it relatively simple. The theme is "thinking of you". I've been seeing a lot of kraft cardstock being used for cards lately and decided to join in on all the fun. Stamp sets are Elegant Floral and Say it in Style, both from CTMH. The cranberry piece of cardstock was run through my cuttlebug. That little machine has been getting a workout lately. LOVE IT. Some matching green ribbon finished off the card. All in all, I have to say that I'm pretty pleased with how this turned out and I see myself reaching for some more kraft cardstock soon.

I hope you're all doing well. Reynna's been sick the last 3 days with a fever that won't go away. If she's still got it by the end of today, I'm going to take her to the doctor.

Believe

Sunday, April 5, 2009

Here's my Christmas card for this week. If you don't know, I've been participating in Sparkle's weekly challenge to make Christmas cards each week. I'm now up to 25 cards ready to send out this December. Woo Hoo!

I used the sketch from CPS. DP is more from Basic Grey's Wassail line. What fun paper. I love the print that I used on the card front. So pretty. The focal image is from CTMH's No Peeking stamp set. I colored in the image with my ink pads and a blending brush. The Believe sentiment is from another CTMH stamp set.

Thanks for visiting. Have a great day.
