Because she's cuter

Sunday, November 30, 2008

I like to kid Christopher about him having some girlfriends. There are two little girls, one 5 and one 3, at his daycare that he is good friends with. I've heard through the grapevine that the 3 year-old, Carsyn, has been planning her and Christopher's wedding.

I asked Christopher today who was his girlfriend. He used to tell me that he didn't have any. Today, he answers that Carsyn is his girlfriend. I asked him why she was and not the other little girl. His answer, "Because she's cuter". I then asked him what boyfriends and girlfriends did. He said that they color together and sit by each other. I asked him if they held hands. He said no. Sounds like a good relationship for my little boy.

It's moments like this when I'm very glad I started this blog, as it's an avenue for me to write things like this down.

A pilgrim and an indian

Saturday, November 29, 2008

My kids decided to make some costumes and put on a play of the first Thanksgiving for us on Thanksgiving day. There were two acts of the play. In the first, Reynna and Christopher were both pilgrims. For act two, Reynna was an indian. It was so cute and I was able to capture the play on our video camera. Here are some still pictures of the kids after the play in their costumes.

I just love it that my kids are so creative. They made these costumes all by themselves and had a great time doing it. For the play, they also made the Mayflower boat. It was about 5 feet long, complete with sails.

I think I've finally recovered from yesterday. With everything going on this week, I haven't made it to my craft area in a few days. I hope to remedy that today, although I do need to get some serious studying done. In any event, thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone's week and holiday were fantastic.

Shimmerz

Friday, November 28, 2008

Have you all heard of Shimmerz paints? I keep seeing them popping up and they look like a lot of fun and something that I need. Here is where you can order these from their new online store and you have a chance to win 5 free jars.

I hope everyone's Thanksgiving was a great one. I'll be back later with some family pictures. For now, I'm beat from having gotten up at 3 in the morning to do a little shopping.

You are

I was able to sneak away to my basement and create this card for Marjorie's color challenge. This week she chose brown bag, garden green, goldrush and cranberry. I also used Taylor's sketch for the week. I fell in love with this sketch when I saw it and knew that I wanted to use it. I was at a loss for what to stamp on the smaller mat in the middle of the card. That's when it hit me. I'd ink up my Checklist stamp set from CTMH. I love that it comes with so many fun words that you can add to the checklist yourself.

For some reason, my card looks really washed out, especially the garden green piece where I embossed it with the swiss dots embossing folder. I really like these colors together and am pleased with how it looks IRL.

I hope everyone has a terrific Tuesday. Take care.

Winner of the blog candy

Tuesday, November 25, 2008

Thank you everyone for your sweet comments about me passing that part of the CPA exam. And I was touched by all the sweet stories you left about your struggles. It's something we all have. Okay, Tanya's name was drawn. Here's what she said.

'Congratulations!! Okay never really tried for blog candy before but I thought I'd give it a shot.

The one thing that I struggled with the most was the death of my step-father, who passed away with bladder cancer. I was there in his last moments and what I saw is forever etched in my mind--something I wouldn't even wish on my worst enemy. My step-father was the one true male figure in my life and losing him threw me for a loop but I have come away from the situation with a whole new outlook. I now don't take things for granted because life is short but my goal is to live it to it's fullest and enjoy every single nano-second with my daughter (and future children) so that they know that no matter what I am and always will be here for them and love her (them) with my whole heart.'

Tanya, email me at alannamoses@aol.com so I can get your address to send these goodies off. Thanks again everyone for playing and visiting.

Remember these pictures?

Sunday, November 23, 2008

Toady's post is the layout I did at scrapbook night the other night. It features the pictures of Reynna I posted last week. 5 hours with friends and this is ALL I came up with. Not only did I only just do the one layout but I'm not that thrilled with it. I had some cute paper but I couldn't find a way to fit it in. I had the hardest time laying it out. I guess the layout's done, except I want to add Reynna's name and the date somewhere.

BYU unable to stop Utah

Sunday, November 23, 2008

As I mentioned yesterday, it was the day of the Holy War. Unfortunately, for Cougar fans, Utah was not to be denied a trip to a BCS game. I actually think it was more of BYU losing the game rather than Utah winning the game. Max Hall had an off game throwing 4 interceptions and fumbling the ball. It's a hard pill to swallow. I have to tell myself that there's always next season.

I'll be back after church with the layout that I managed to get accomplished on Friday night with scrappin' girls.

A black eye

Saturday, November 22, 2008

A couple of days ago, I noticed that Christopher appeared to have a black eye. It seems to have gotten darker today. I asked him if someone hit him or if he ran into something. He wasn't sure what happened, which didn't surprise me. We wanted to snap a few pictures of him and his pitiful eye. What a sweetheart.

He's a boy, no doubt about it

Saturday, November 22, 2008

Another real simple layout featuring my little Christopher from about 3 1/2 years ago. He is definitely a boy. I've never had to take Reynna to the emergency room. Only my little boy. He gets holes in the knees of his jeans. He loves to play with his trucks and super heroes. He makes truck sounds. He is ALWAYS busy. Never a dull moment. I love my little boy soooooo much and can't believe he's already 5 and in school. Where or where does the time go?

I'll be spending most of the afternoon and early evening watching the Holy war. Don't know what the holy war is? It's the annual BYU-Utah football game. It's always the last game of the regular season. Both teams are highly ranked this year and it should be a great game. Do you bleed blue? We sure do here. Go Cougars. I'll be back later, hopefully with good news.

Fun at Elitches and it's Friday!

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Another real simple layout. I did this one a couple of months ago. The pictures were from 3 years ago when we went to Denver's water park.

Today is our annual firm retreat. I get a break from auditing and get to wear jeans for the day. Plus the day is supposed to get over at 4. It's always real hush-hush around the firm as to what will take place. Only the retreat committee knows what will be going on and they're not talking. Last year's retreat was a lot of fun.

I'm having some friends over tonight for scrapbooking. It's always a toss-up if I will get anything done or not. I tend to just watch, talk, and listen. Oh, and eat. We all bring treats or food of some sort. Hopefully I can feel some sort of mojo and create. I often find it easier to create on my own. Any of you feel like that?

Okay, we've made it to Friday morning. Enjoy and thanks for stopping by.

Just being you

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Today's layout is a real simple layout. I didn't want to really distract from the precious looks and smiles on my kids' faces. These pictures are a few years old. Christopher was still in diapers, for heavens sake. I've decided that buttons are my current embellishment of choice. I seem to be using them on a lot of layouts and cards.

So to celebrate my exam yesterday, we all went out to Red Robin. I love their guacamole bacon burgers but was unable to consume the entire burger. I had to leave about 1/2 of it. A 1/2 pound burger is really just too much for me. We had a nice time and then topped it off with a trip to Coldstone. Mine is in the freezer for maybe tonight or tomorrow--or whenever I'm feeling it, I suppose.

Thanks everyone for the comments on my previous post. I truly appreciate them.

I did it, I did it, I did it, I did it, I did it!!!!!!

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

Okay, are you intrigued? What did I do? After several failed attempts at different parts of the CPA exam, I passed the audit portion. It's only one out of four but it gives me the hope and determination that I needed to continue on what had previously been a fruitless quest.

So, I've decided to offer some blog candy. I'll post later tonight the contents of the blog candy. Are you asking yourself how you can win some? All you have to do is leave a comment on this post telling one thing in life that you've struggled with and how you achieved your goal.

Contest will be open until Monday, November 24th. Be sure to check back later for a picture of the goodies you could win. Edited to add: Okay, picture of blog candy is attached now.

For me, I'm walking on cloud 9. How I'm supposed to work and be productive today is beyond me. I guess I've got to try.

Bury me

Wednesday, November 19, 2008

I scrapped some more pictures of our trip to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago. The farm had a giant corn box filled with corn kernels. The kids had a blast playing in it and burying each other.

Okay, a real quick post today as I'm a few minutes behind this morning. Until next time, take care.

Happy Holidays

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

Marjorie is celebrating 40,000 hits on her blog and in honor of that is offering some blog candy. All you have to do is use the sketch she posted here for a chance to win some goodies. This is what I did today during my lunch hour for this contest.

I've been seeing some really cute work out in the blogging world with snowmen so I thought I'd use a few and some old paper from CTMH called Just Chillin. I of course reached for my Say it in Style stamp set from CTMH for the sentiment.

Then and Now

Tuesday, November 18, 2008

I made good use of my lunch hour yesterday and started this layout using colors Marjorie chose for her color challenge. Colors chosen were: tulip, heavenly blue, outdoor denim and ocean. I used the first three listed. I was struggling on how to fill the space on the right side where the now 5 squares of paper are and realized that I know the pictures are Christopher but will someone looking at my book 50 years from now know the name of that cute little guy. So I added Christopher's name to the left side. It's also very hard to tell in the photos because the font is so small but there is a 2003 and a 2008 on either side of both pictures.

The then picture was Christopher at about 6 months. The now picture was Christopher's school picture this year. Wow, has he grown. He's still my little boy, though, and always will be. Sometimes my mind wanders and starts to think about my kids as they grow up. I wonder if Christopher will still have his blond hair, which I adore. I wonder if he'll still be clumsy and always hurting himself or if that is just more a product of him being a rambunctious and active little boy.

Anyway, the layout was fun to do. I've never really done a layout that has pictures which spread so many years. I'll probably see what I have for Reynna and do one featuring her as well.

For the layout, let me tell you that I am in love with the scallop edge that the Fiskars Threading water punch gives. If you don't have that punch, run now, don't walk. You can't tell in the picture but the small pieces of paper on either side are covered with CTMH's window charms to give them some dimension. Also, Christopher is spelled using CTMH's Hodgepodge alphabet. It's the first time it's seen ink and I know I'll be reaching for it again and again.

Well, I hope everyone survived their Monday and that your Tuesday is even better. Take care.

Easter pics

Monday, November 17, 2008

Today's layout feature some Easter pictures from a few years ago that were just scrapped late last week. I was having a tough time because I couldn't find any papers in my stash that I felt went with the pictures. In the end, I think what I came up with works okay. I did my layout not using a sketch of any kind. Very hard for me. I am very linear and having sketches and a blueprint of some sort really helps my poor brain out.

A great game

Sunday, November 16, 2008

The game yesterday was awesome. Cougars won 38-24. We had great seats and could see the field very clearly. Even after all my layers, my bottom half was still very cold. At the end of the game, I could barely feel my legs and feet. We had a great time with my brother and Dad.

My layout today is some pictures of Tyffanie and Carlos, along with their kids. They had come out to visit this past summer. I was walking in the Race for the Cure and everyone came over to say hi and see what was going on. I'm not sure where Joseph, my oldest nephew was while we were taking some pictures. I would have preferred if we could have gotten some shots of all 5 cousins.

I hope you all enjoyed your Saturday. I'll be busy after church today doing some things that I didn't get to do yesterday, namely laundry and some cleaning.
