Amy's sketch

Monday, November 30, 2009

I've got another quick and easy Christmas card for you using Amy's (Sarah's daughter) sketch. What a great sketch. Thanks so much Amy for the inspiration.

There's not much to say about my card except that it's another quickie.  The pretty sparkly paper did most of the work for me.  Just what you're used to seeing from me, right?

***Supplies***
Patterned paper: My Minds Eye
Stamps: CTMH Seasonal Thoughts
Other: PTI buttons, Marvy snowflake punch

Can you believe the holiday weekend is over?  It's back to work for me.  It was nice to put it out of my head for a few days but now it's back to reality.  I hope your Monday is a fabulous one.  Until later.

Let there be peace on Earth

Sunday, November 29, 2009

While I was making this card, I found myself singing along to this song. I remember being in grade school singing this song for a Christmas concert.  I need just a few more Christmas cards so that will be what is coming over the next week or so.

I started with the sketch from OCC.  My card is also for Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenge.  I've definitely missed playing the last month. This week's challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges is punch happy.  Papertake Weekly and Whimsy Stamps both issued a Christmas theme challenge.  Bizzy Becks Creatalicious Challenge wants to see something Christmas related but with sparkle and snowflakes.  My paper took care of that for me.  KL Stampin N Scrappin's challenge for November is to use snowflakes.  Lastly, Crafty Calendar's challenge this month is to use something weather related.

Patterned Paper: My Minds Eye
Stamps: CTMH Christmas Melodies
Other: MS border punch

Thanks for stopping by.  I hope you have a great Sunday.  I'm teaching a children's class in church today and then we will be feeding the missionaries for dinner.  I hope you have a great day.  Blessings to each and every one of you.

Random stamping for Penny's challenge

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

This week at Penny's challenges, the challenge is to use random stamping with no patterned paper. I have to admit that this is something that I haven't done in a long time. I decided that my Star Struck stamp set from CTMH would be a perfect set for this task, as it has several different images, with all sorts of sizes, a must have when random stamping, in my opinion.

I stamped an 8.5x11 sheet of this paper.  I did take a picture but it was inside and the lighting was horrible so I won't share that.  I will make up some other cards later on using the rest of my random stamped paper.

Stamps: CTMH Star Struck
Other: Cuttlebug, CTMH buttons and waxy flax

I am so excited that this is the last work day for the week for me.  4 glorious days off.  No work and more importantly, no studying.  My parents, brother, and grandpa will be coming to our house for the big feast tomorrow.  I believe the Broncos are playing so we'll probably watch them.  Although, if you are a football fan, you know that my broncos have lost the last 4 games.  Yikes!  We can't have any more of that.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. I need to spend some time with my family who I sorely neglected this past month.  I'm also hoping to fit in some crafting as well because I am going through major withdrawals.

I hope your Thanksgiving holiday for those in the US is a fabulous one.  I'm hoping to return before Saturday but if not, I'll be back then.

And now the waiting begins

Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Well, I survived my test today. I won't sugar coat it. It was brutally hard and there is a good chance I'll have to retake it again. But for the next 6 weeks or so, I am free and clear of studying. Yahoo!!!

Thanks for everyone who has taken the time to visit and leave comments during my hiatus. Thanks for all the good wishes as well.  They mean a lot. I've got a lot of catching up to do. I've missed you all terribly.

I'll see you back here tomorrow with my card for Penny's challenges. Until then, have a fabulous afternoon and evening.  We're planning on a family game night tonight.

Happy Birthday with Unscripted Sketches

Saturday, November 21, 2009

I'm so glad it's Saturday because I have a full day I can study and because it's Unscripted Sketches time. I decided to pull out one of my favorite sets again for this card.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper:  CTMH Key to My Heart

Stamps:  CTMH Happy Birthday, PTI Everyday Button Bits
Other:  CTMH twill ribbon, PTI buttons

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great Saturday. If you get a chance, why don't you give this week's sketch at Unscripted a try?

As for me, I've got 3 days until the big exam day so I'll be busy studying/cramming. I can't wait for Tuesday night.

Unscripted Baby Girl

Saturday, November 14, 2009

I've got a cute baby girl card for this week at Unscripted Sketches. I loved this sketch and want to work with it again. I used a die cut from MME that I've had for quite some time.  It was quite large so it dictated a larger card, 5.5x5.5.  The ribbon's purpose on my card was two fold.  First, it was for the sketch.  Second, it was the perfect coverup for the fact that the cuttlebug won't emboss a piece that large.  So, I cut the cardstock in half, ran both pieces through my cuttlebug, adhered both to the card, and then hid the seam with the ribbon.

***Supplies***
Other:  Cuttlebug, Diecut from MME, CTMH buttons and twill ribbon

Thanks for your visit.  If you've got a moment, be sure and head over to Unscripted Sketches to see what the other designers have for you.  I hope you all have a great Saturday.  I'll be busy studying.

3 ornaments

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

Well, we've made it to another Wednesday so you know what that means. It's time for a new challenge at Penny's challenges. This week, Penny's got a great sketch for you to try. As I was looking at the sketch, I immediately thought of the circles as being ornaments.  And thus, my super CAS card was born.  I love the way the kraft cardstock looks with the vineyard berry cardstock.  Yummy.

Stamps: CTMH Say it in Style
Other: PTI Buttons

Go check out the other designers at Penny's challenges and then why don't you come play with us?  We'd love to have you.

I hope you are having a great week.  I do miss you all very much and in 2 weeks, I'll be back.  Have a great day and a fabulous rest of the week.  I'll see you back here on Saturday with my Unscripted Sketches card.

Wedding Bells for Unscripted Sketches

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Well, another Saturday is upon us, which means Unscripted Sketches time. Yahoo!

I was working on some wedding invitations awhile back for my friend and while I had the supplies out, I thought I'd make her wedding card with the same materials that her invitations will be made of. Her colors are silver and hunter green. I'll have more on the invitations to come but I will tell you that she'd like 150 of them. YIKES. I better get my exam passed because I am going to need all the free time I can get to make these invitations. LOL.

Anyway, I got out some of my foil paper from CTMH and embossed it with a small cuttlebug embossing folder. Some ribbon underneath the focal point was added with a couple of matching brads in the corner. I wish you could see the texture of the silver swirly paper. It's embossed foil and it looks so pretty IRL.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper: ??? from Hobby Lobby
Other: Cuttlebug, silver ribbon, CTMH foil sheets and brads

Why don't you head on over to Unscripted Sketches now and give this week's sketch a whirl? Thanks for the visit and know that I miss visiting everyone. 2 1/2 more weeks of torture. LOL. Have a blessed Saturday.

Winter with ribbon and sparkle

Wednesday, November 4, 2009

I've got a real simple winter card for you today for Penny's challenges. Penny challenged us to make something with a winter theme and then dress it up with ribbon and sparkle.

If you look real close, you can see the prisma glitter covering the sides on the mat of my snowman. I also added 3 little gems for his buttons. Also, in case you're extra observant, you might have noticed that I've used the same stamp set for the past 3 challenges. I rediscovered this fun set and just had to give it lots of love. The images are all perfect for a 1 1/4 inch punch.
***Supplies***
Stamps: CTMH Month Blocks
Other: Cuttlebug, CTMH ribbon and buttons, Prisma glitter

Well, I hope you're enjoying your Wednesday. Thanks for the visit.

Happy 10th Birthday Reynna

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

Well, it was 10 years ago today that my sweet daughter Reynna was born. I can't believe she's in double digit years already. We were contemplating not having a friend party this year when she then informed me that we had to because she would be double digits. A very important milestone, I suppose.

So, 10 years ago, I was having mild contractions throughout the day but nothing crazy at all. At around 9:00 that night, things started to progress a bit. The pain was a bit more intense but still nothing too crazy. Well, around 10:30, I decided that maybe it was time to go to the hospital.

Boy, I'm glad I didn't wait another minute. By the time I got there, my labor was in full swing and I was too far along and in too much pain to even fill out the paperwork beforehand. Reynna was born around 11:45 that night. She came quickly (so quickly that there was no time for any epidural or other drugs) but things went great.

I was so happy to have my sweet daughter in my arms. If you've been following my blog, then you know how happy I was that this baby was mine, all mine. It's not as if having Reynna could replace Arianne but it definitely helped.

So we are going to Red Robin as a family tonight to celebrate. A couple of months ago, she entered a contest at Red Robin designing a burger. Well, her burger was chosen as the winner for our local store. With this came a $40 gift card, a nice certificate with her name on it and the name of her burger (the Western Dippin' Burger) and the chance to move forward in the competition. She's one of 430 kids who will move onto the next round, where the contestants will be narrowed to 50. The next cut is 10 with the final winner receiving a grand prize of a family trip to Walt Disney World.

Anyway, supposedly Reynna's name is on some wall at our local restaurant and her burger is being offered. We have this on a friend's authority. Needless to say, I'll definitely be bringing my camera tonight to dinner. I'm hoping that I can get a picture of her next to her name. Pretty cool, huh? She is on cloud 9 about this whole thing.

Happy birthday baby! I love you very much and hope that your 10th birthday is fabulous.
