Brrr

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Sorry I've been MIA with some art lately. I've been feeling very sluggish and drained. Devin had a sleep study last night so I decided to go and make a card while he was out.

I used the sketch from Unscripted Sketches along with a new challenge I found this last week over at Jazzy Inspirations, which was to use teal, white, and black. My card is also for Sparkle's weekly Christmas card challenge.

For the large black mat, I originally had it plain and decided that it needed something. That's when I remembered my snoflake embossing folder. Yeah! Also, it's hard to tell but I used lots of Stickles to bling my snowflake up. My card size is 5x5. I've really been loving square cards lately. I'm not sure why, just have.

***Supplies*** Cardstock: CTMH Ocean, Black, White Daisy
Stamps: CTMH Snow Friends, So Sweet Seasons
Other: Cuttlebug, Nesties, CTMH white daisy grosgrain ribbon, Marvy snowflake punch, Stickles, CTMH marker

Thanks for your visit today. Have a terrific Tuesday.

Girls just wanna have fun

Saturday, July 25, 2009

So I mentioned that my friends were coming over for a scrap night. We had a great time. The daughters of two of those friends also came over and spent the night with Reynna. Abbie is moving to Canada today so it was a farewell of sorts. The girls had so much fun last night and stayed up until 5:30 am. YIKES.

They decided that they needed to dunk their heads into some bath water to perk them up some last night. Here's just a few pics that I snapped of these silly girls.

As usual, there's a lot to do today but after last night, I don't have that much energy. We'll see what gets done. I'm hoping that maybe Devin will be able to make a lot of progress on our new countertop. We'll see. If he has, you know I'll be posting pictures.

Thank you

Saturday, July 25, 2009

I don't think any of the cards I've made the past while took much time at all. This one is no exception. However, I really like this card and think that this might be one that I make a few more of to have on hand. The only possible item of note is that I decided to run only half the card front through my cuttlebug.

***Supplies***
Patterend paper: PTI Friends til the End
Stamps: PTI Cupcake Collection
Other: Nesties, PTI Buttons

Is everyone enjoying their weekend? I certainly hope so. Thanks for the visit and blessings to each and every one of you.

Phase 5

Friday, July 24, 2009

Devin got our shower rod up. If you look closely, you can see that it curves. I think I can use my shower tomorrow. I'm so excited.

He also ripped out our countertops and sinks today. We've laid out the tiles and tried to pick the prettier tiles for our countertop. He's going to cut them tomorrow and the process should go a lot quicker than it did for the shower. As you can see, it's a mess right now, though.

Yeah for it being Friday night and the weekend. I've got some friends coming over for scrapbook night. Who knows what any of us will actually get accomplished. We'll drink some virgin pina coladas, eat and talk for sure. I hope you all are doing fabulous. Until next time.

A card for many challenges

Thursday, July 23, 2009

I made this card for the Mojo Monday sketch. I took a small liberty and didn't use a circle but rather my nestie. Anyway, after some blog surfing this week, I found this sketch site, Sketch and Stash, whose sketch was eerily similar to the Mojo sketch. This site also wants participants to use something new from their stash. Well, I had just gotten this pink pom pom fringe from Joanne's last week in their fabric section. I also used my swirl embossing folder for the challenge over at A Spoon Full of Sugar. Lastly, I found another new site, Papertake Weekly Challenge, who issued a color challenge. Participants are to choose their favorite color combo out of these colors: pink, black, white, yellow, green, grey and lilac. If you know me, you know pink is my favorite color and I love to pair it with many colors, black being one of them.
I couldn't get the baby pink colors in the card to photograph very well. The card looks much better IRL.

***Supplies***
Stamps: CTMH A Friend Is
Other: Cuttlebug, nesties, CTMH markers, pink pom-pom fringe
Thanks for your visit and congrats on my promotion and office at work. At my firm, there are 4 levels of auditors. Staff, in-charge, manager, and then partner. I guess you could say that I'm climbing my way up the corporate ladder. I have to say that if there are any of you out there thinking about going back to school or starting for the first time, you can do it. I was 30 when I decided to go back to school. 3 years later, I was done. It wasn't easy but definitely worth it. I highly value education and think that it is worth sacrificing for and that everyone needs one. Okay, sorry about that tangent. I know you didn't come here for my education soapbox.
I hope everyone has a great day.

Phase 4

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

These aren't great pictures but all of our tiles are up and the area has been grouted. Devin's going to put a grout sealer on today and then it's time to put up our curtain rod. Did I tell you we got this really cool curved one? I think it's going to look so snazzy. It's not a tension rod, however, so Devin has to drill into our marble to install it. There's still some drywall that needs to be repaired but the shower/tub is mostly done. I can't wait to hop in.

Did I also mention that we got enough tile to redo our counter top with our sinks? So, unfortunately, the project won't be ending anytime soon. One big piece of it is about done, though.

In other news, I got promoted at work and moved from a cubicle into an office all my own. It's so nice and I'm so thrilled to be working for such a great company. Have a great Wednesday.

There's a hole in my mouth

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

I ordered a few pictures over the weekend and had a chance to scrap these from when Christohper lost his 1st tooth this past month. The right side of the layout was inspired by this layout of Marjorie's. I loved how she blocked the photos and papers.

Don't you just love the look he's giving in the far left photo? I think by that time, he was tired of taking pictures. But lots of smiles in the other pictures.

Patterened Paper: Wild Asparagus line by MME
Stamps: CTMH Journaling Jots
Other: Making Memories rub-ons, PTI buttons, EK Success punch, Cricut Base camp cartridge

My weekly Christmas card

Sunday, July 19, 2009

I did end up having a chance yesterday to make it down to my craft area and whip up this easy Christmas card for Sparkle's weekly challenge. The challenge over at Cute Card Thursday was also to make a Christmas card. Yeah. I also used the sketch from Unscripted Sketches.
I stamped the sentiment directly onto my ribbon but the picture is showing it very blurry. It's not quite that bad in real life. Also, if you look close, you can see that I used some glitter on the swirly part of each ornament.

***Supplies***
Patterned paper: CTMH Holly Days
Stamps: Oh Christmas Tree
Other: CTMH white grosgrain ribbon, prisma glitter, 1 inch circle punch

A day at Rocky Mountain National Park

Saturday, July 18, 2009

Yesterday, we went to Rocky Mountain National Park for the day. We stopped and had lunch at Estes Park, a cute little city nestled in the mountains. It is the gateway to the park, and only about an hour to the west of us. Once we entered the park, we took Trail Ridge Road which takes you to the top of the pass. Lots of curves and steep drop offs. We stopped a few times along the way to get out and take in the beauty of it all.

There was a waterfall and water area that Christopher loved playing in. We saw several deer and elk but no bighorn sheep. It was a gorgeous day, although it did get a bit chilly when we were higher than 12,000 feet. Does anyone want to come visit and take a trip through this gorgeous park?

Steve and Heather left this morning. I'm sad to see them go. We had a great time. I'm also sad to see my vacation days at work come to an end. I've got the weekend and then it's back to work for me. I hope you all are having a terrific Saturday. I've got lots to do, of course. I'm hoping to get into the craft room and create a card for Sparkle's Christmas card challenge tomorrow. Until then, take care.

Unscripted Sketches #14

Friday, July 17, 2009

My card today is for this week's sketch over at Unscripted Sketches. They have great sketches and if you haven't tried one yet, what are you waiting for?
***Supplies***
Patterened Paper: CTMH Floral Tapestry
Stamps: Stamping Bella, CTMH Say it in Style
Other: Nesties, PTI button, CTMH waxy flax and markers

Normally, I'm saying yeah for Friday but in this instance, I'm saying boo hoo, because Heather and Steve are leaving tomorrow.

I miss you

Wednesday, July 15, 2009

I'm putting this card in with my 10 minute label but I think 10 minutes is a bit of an overestimate. This is also for the challenge at OCC which was Pet Parade.

***Supplies***
Patterned Paper: DCWV
Stamps: CTMH Say it in Style
Other: PTI Buttons

I'll be sending this card to a couple of nephews. Hi Briggsy and Isaac. Just a quick way to let them know I miss them.

A simple thank you

Monday, July 13, 2009

Here's another very simple card but one that I'm really happy with. I love how the black looks with the paper.

***Supplies***
Patterened paper: PTI Friends til the End
Stamps: PTI Cupcake Collection
Other: PTI Buttons, CTMH waxy flax, EK Success punch

Devin and the kids got home last night. And they brought company! Devin's sister, Heather, and her husband Steve are here visiting for the week. Yeah. I'm so excited. Today is also my last day of work for 6 whole glorious days. I don't think we have anything too crazy planned. Just spending some time together.

I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging I'll be doing this week but I do have some scheduled posts for you. Everyone have a great Monday.

Believe

Sunday, July 12, 2009

As promised, here is my Christmas card this week for Sparkle's weekly challenge. She gave us another great sketch this week.

I had another idea in mind for my card but as I was looking through my stash of non-CTMH paper, I found this paper and die cut from the Wild Asparagus line from My Minds Eye. I loved the die cut and thought, what the heck? I'll use this on my card rather than wait for when I might scrapbook Christmas pictures. You can't really tell in the picture, but I also stamped my playful flourishes stamp with versamark on the piece of red cardstock, just to bring a bit of pattern to the empty space. My finished card size is 6x6.

***Supplies***
Patterened Paper and Die cut: My Minds Eye
Stamps: CTMH Playful Flourishes
Other: Versamark, PTI buttons

I hope you all have a great Sunday. Enjoy and thanks for your visit. I truly appreciate you visiting my blog.

Butterflies

Saturday, July 11, 2009

This is my second post for today so be sure and scroll down. I did end up making it to my craft area today. I got a lot of my "chores" done but still have some to do. Here's my take on Karen's sketch this week. As usual, nothing too fancy going on with it. My card also fits the bill for the Creative Belli blog, which was to use texture. My cuttlebug has probably got to be my favorite way to add texture, and especially with the swiss dots embossing folder.

***Supplies***
Patterned paper: BG Ambrosia
Stamps: CTMH Playful Flourishes, PTI Cupcake Collection
Other: Cuttlebug, black brads

Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you back here tomorrow with my weekly Christmas card. Until then, take care.
