Snow Friends

This card is for Taylor's weekly cupcake sketch which can be found here. The stamp set is Snow Friends from CTMH. Paper is also from CTMH. I ran the piece of olive cardstock through my swiss dots cuttlebug folder. The buttons on the left are clear with cranberry waxy flax threaded through. I decided to add some extra ribbon on the right side of the card. The inside of the card says, "Snow friends come and go but real friends last forever".

Anyone have any big plans for the weekend or for tomorrow's Super Bowl? We'll be having a couple of friends over along with my dad. Friends, food, and football. Doesn't get much better than that.

A Valentine's day card

Today's card is another one for a sketch by Jami which can be found here. Jami is a member of Taylor's cupcake crew.

I used CTMH's Serendipity paper packet again. The stamp comes from Vintage Valentine. I love the square brads in the top right corner. I had a lot of fun with this sketch and can see myself using it again. I think it's fun to incorporate circles with rectangles/squares.

Smile

Today's card is one for Jackie's sketch which can be found here. I used my Life Delights paper packet along with Playful Petals for the stamp set, both from CTMH to create this card. I love this paper and the stamp set. This card was so fun to make.

Who's glad we made it to Friday? I know I am. There's something about Friday's which makes it so much better than say a Monday.

My card on another blog!

I was surfing Karen's blog, The Sweetest Thing, tonight and saw my card was picked for her Sweet Sunday sketch this week, here. Karen has got some great creations on her blog and I'm so glad I came upon it a few weeks ago.

A New Year's card for 2010

Are you asking yourself why I'm posting a New Year's card? Well, it's because I've decided to really concentrate on my paper crafting this year and to get cards ready to have on hand. So I'll probably be making lots of different cards that don't necessarily go with the season at hand. But in the meantime, my cardbox will hopefully be getting full and I can send more cards out this year.

My card is 5x5 in size. Not too much to tell about it that you can't see in the picture. Just Chillin' was the paper packet used along with Say it in Style for the sentiment, both from CTMH. Some ribbon and a couple of snowflakes from Martha's punch finished off the card.

Have a great Thursday.

Be mine Valentine

Today's card is for Amy's weekly sketch. What a sweet and simple sketch and I had a lot of fun making this card. I used some more of my Cocoa Cafe paper from CTMH. Man, do I love that paper. The flourishes come from Playful Flourishes and the sentiment is from Say it in Style, both from CTMH. I cut my hearts from my cricut machine. Some cocoa ribbon gives the card its finishing touch.

4 my Valentine

This card was made for CPS's weekly sketch #100. I found these sketches a couple of weeks ago and am loving them. I was totally on a roll Sunday afternoon with this Cocoa Cafe paper from CTMH. A stamp from my Vintage Valentine set, also from CTMH is my main image. I used my rectangle nesties to cut out the rectangles and the scalloped rectangle. Cranberry brads and a button, along with some cocoa grosgrain ribbon finish off the card.

What the world really needs

I made this card for Taylor's weekly cupcake challenge. All products used are CTMH including the Perfect Days paper packet. I used the treading water punch for the scalloped edge. I really want Stampin Up's scallop edge punch so that I don't always have to have the holes in the middle of my scallops but what's a girl on a strict budget to do?

I don't own any oval nesties or other dies so I broke out the Cricut to cut the ovals. What on earth did I do before that machine?

Love

I made this card for Karen's sweet Sunday sketch #2. Other than the paper I used, which is an older paper packet from CTMH called Cocoa Cafe, I really had no idea where this card was headed. I just kind of cut as I went. For the circle elements on the sketch which Karen had, I thought it would be fun to use buttons. Plus you know that I'm addicted to buttons.

The size of the card is 6x5. I was originally going to do a 6x6 card but then decided that there was too much colonial white showing. The white space on the left did lend itself perfectly for my Card Commentary set from CTMH. I added some ribbon and called the card complete.

My handsome boy

I thought Christopher was so handsome and grown-up looking today before church that I snapped a few pictures. This outfit came from his Aunt Danae for Christmas. After he got dressed, we went to the bathroom to comb his hair. He always tells me, "Don't make me look like a Daddy. Make me look like a Christopher". Too cute.

By the time Reynna was dressed, there wasn't any time to get any pictures of her in her Sunday best. Maybe next week.

Sparkle's Christmas card challenge Week 8

For this week, Sparkle challenged us to make a square card. That is what I did for my second card. The base is 5x5. I inked up a stamp from CTMH's vintage Christmas set. Just Chillin' is the paper packet used. Brads and the snowflake punch finished off the card.

For my first card, I wanted to use the paper packet Holly Days from CTMH. I love the bright colors in it. I wanted to add buttons (GASP) but didn't have any coordinating waxy flax in these colors. I thought that maybe I could die some white waxy flax and voila, I have green waxy flax to match my card.

If you haven't checked out Sparkle's blog yet, go do it now. Join us in making Christmas cards each week and you won't regret it come next December.

Father's Day

I made this card for Taylor's special cupcake challenge this week. She's celebrating her 1st anniversary of doing her weekly cupcake challenges. Members of the Cupcake crew were asked to each prepare a sketch. This is my take on Donna's sketch which can be found here.

I used CTMH's Free Spirit paper packet for the card. I had punched out my squares for the card front but was then stumped on what I should have for my main image. I messed around with a couple of stamp sets but they just weren't the look I was wanting. And then I found it. This flourish from Vintage Valentine. Isn't it perfect with the paper? A spiral clip and some cocoa ribbon finished off the card.

A Valentine's Day card -- Or not?

I had these scraps on my table from my previous card and just kind of started working. I really didn't have any vision as to how I wanted this card to turn out. It just kind of evolved. And let me tell you -- I'm so pleased with it. It was my first time inking of my Today's Date stamp set from CTMH. I wasn't exactly sure how I could highlight day 14 on the stamp. At first, I tried a small circle punch but that didn't work. And then I remembered I had these photo anchors.

This card is definitely not your traditional Valentine's day card but hopefully the recipient will like it.

Created by Courtney Challenge #22

Today's card is one I did for a new weekly sketch I discovered this week. Check the Courtney's blog out here.

All products come from CTMH except for the chipboard flowers. I had them in my stash and thought they went pretty well. The paper packet is More to Adore and the sentiment is from the stamp set. Chocolate brads and baby pink organdy ribbon finish off the card.

I'm not entirely sure that I like the sentiment as it is just stamped on top of the patterned paper but at this point, I think I'll just leave well enough alone and not do something that might make the card look worse. I think the problem for me is that I'm just not used to having a sentiment inked up on patterned paper like that. Maybe it will grow on me and I'll start doing it more often.

See you tomorrow.

My first Mojo Monday sketch

Today's card is one that I did for this week's Mojo Monday sketch. I just discovered this site with its weekly sketches and love this sketch. For my card, I used two different cuttlebug embossing folders--swiss dots and the paisley one. The main image is the Snowbunnybella. I used liquid applique again and just love the look. Although I'm wondering how it will do being mailed.

We watched the season premiere of Lost last night. Love, love that show. Although I hate how I have to wait roughly 8 months in between seasons. Anyone else out there a big Lost fan? Anyway, can't wait until next week to get my fix. Have a great Thursday!

CPS #40 Reader's Choice week

My card today is from CPS. Reader's could choose any of their previous 99 sketches. I've been in the mood to make square cards so I chose this sketch. I did take the liberty and rounded all the corners of my papers. All products come from CTMH and include the More to Adore paper packet, the Friendship puzzle stamp set, some blush buttons, and some chocolate waxy flax.

For some reason, the 'true' part of my sentiment looks green. It really is a chocolate color. Again, let me tell you that I absolutely love pink and brown together.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Wednesday.

Thinking of you

Today's card is one I made for a friend at work whose husband was involved in a serious car accident. The sketch I used was for Karen's inaugural sweet Sunday sketch. What a fun sketch and it was really easy to work with. I used my treading water punch from Fiskars for the bottom of the card. I wasn't originally planning on doing that but when I cut the dp for the card front, it was a tad short. I didn't want to waste the paper or to trim my card base so voila, you have a scalloped edge.

I've been feeling a bit under the weather since yesterday. I hope I can shake whatever it is that I have. It seems like there is a lot of junk going around right now. Hopefully you're staying well.

Hello

Today's card was made using Amy's sketch. I used the Life Delight's paper packet again for the card since it was out on my table. I love the stripe paper that comes with it. There's nothing too fancy about my card but I like the way it came out. My husband said it was too busy. What do you think? I used more buttons again. Man, I am addicted to those things.

Can you believe it's Monday already again? Do any of you get the holiday off? I sure don't. Devin and the kids have the day off from school which makes it extra hard for me to go to work. I'd rather stay and play with them and be a bum. Oh well. I hope that the start to your week is fantastic and that you'll stop by later. I was able to make a few cards this weekend and should have lots to show you this week.

Snowbunnybella for 2 challenges

Last week, Sparkle's challenge was to use liquid applique on our Christmas card(s) this week. Can you believe I've never used the stuff? I've always loved the look of it, just never have done it myself. Challenge for next week is to make a square card. I think I should be able to handle that.

For my card, I used Taylor's cupcake sketch. I used CTMH's Life Delights paper packet, which I absolutely adore using the colors chocolate, sweet leaf, and blush. The main image is a RAK snowbunnybella. Isn't she just too cute? Some blush buttons with chocolate waxy flax finish off the card. The sentiment is from my oft used Say it in Sytle from CTMH.

Again, let me tell you how excited I am to be building up my Christmas card stash through Sparkle's challenges. Can't wait for next Christmas. LOL.

Purple frosting and cheese

Devin told me to bring down the camera to snap a couple of pics of what he found Christopher doing. Christopher got into a tube of purple frosting and had put some on his slice of american cheese. What would posess a boy to do such a thing? It's moments like these when I'm glad there is a camera handy.

A pink and black birthday

Today's card features something that I haven't done before. I paper pieced the girl's skirt. I kind of like it. After my card was finished though, I was thinking that maybe I should have done it in the same dp that I used for the base of the card. Oh well. The paper packet I used is Stylin from CTMH. I used it on another card a few weeks ago. Another hindsight thought is that I should have stamped the image in the hollyhock ink rather than the baby pink. It's not quite as light as it looks in the photograph but might have looked better with the darker ink. Oh well. I might make the same card again but do it using the two different elements that I mentioned above. If I do, I'll come back to show you and you can tell me which one you like better.

One last thought on my card. I know I've mentioned this before but I LOVE the color pink and pink and black together is so yummy for me. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it.

So we are taking our van in today to see if we can get it fixed. It's been having radiator problems and been making weird noises. I don't know if there's anything more that I hate spending money on than cars. Possibly the dentist but I'm not sure. To be honest, we've been very lucky with both our cars in that they haven't needed anything too major. We try to keep up on them and Devin can do a lot of the work on them but he's just not sure what the problem is with the van.

I hope you're having a great Saturday. If you get a chance, stop back by tomorrow where I'll be showing my Christmas cards for Sparkle's weekly challenge. Until then, good bye.

2 simple cards for the CPS sketch

I made these two cards last night real quickly for this week's CPS 99 sketch which can be found here. I pulledo out CTMH's Serendipity paper packet and used that. Because the dp already has a lot going on, I decided that I would make a real simple card with not a whole lot of fuss. Once I made the first card, I just changed up my flowers a bit and made the second card in about 4 minutes. I thought about trying to add some embellishments somewhere to spruce these up a bit but then changed my mind as I decided I should try to have some cards on hand that are flat and easy to mail.

I'm happy to have my blog mostly back to the way it was before. I ended up getting some funky html code in one of my posts which screwed everything up. I want to put on a cute background from Cutest Background on the Block but it appears that they are having server problems and will be unavailable for a bit. So, for now, I'll settle for how my blog looks and am happy that everything is in the right place.

Does anyone have any big plans for the weekend? I'm getting my hair done tomorrow. That will be nice. Other than that, I'm sure it will be the norm for me. Laundry, studying, cleaning, football, and hopefully some time to scrap/stamp. See you later.

I miss you

I made this card a couple of nights ago but haven't had a chance to post due to American Idol starting this week. I started watching 3 seasons ago and am totally hooked. Does anyone else out there share this passion of mine?

Anyway, back to my card. I had these scraps from the Caprice paper packet on my desk so I thought I'd make use of them. There's not a lot to tell about my card that you can't already see. All products used are CTMH. I think I'll send this card to a long distance friend who moved away to California.

Devin's got school tonight so I'm hoping to be able to make a card for the CPS challenge. We'll see. Thanks for stopping by.

Learning to Ride

I was able to do this layout on Saturday for Jena's Cherish Challenge. Jena's challenge was to use the sketch Creative Rhythm from CTMH's Cherish book. Late this summer, Christopher decided that he wanted to try and ride his bike without traning wheels. After the first afternoon, he was doing really well. He did crash a few times but that's why he had the pads on. He still needs help starting from the standing position.

All products are CTMH. I used the Free Spirit paper packet which I thought went really well with the pictures and the orange in Christopher's shirt. Lots of brads and stickers finished off the layout. I also used CTMH's library card stamp set for the journaling on the right side. How cute is that?

Another 4 You card using Amy's sketch

I came across Amy's fabulous blog awhile back and she issues weekly sketch challenges. Here's my take on her sketch. All products are CTMH. I used the Caprice paper packet along with the friendship word puzzle set for the stamping. Some buttons tied with waxy flax finished off the card. Can I just tell you that I love using waxy flax? I think it's the perfect item for stringing through buttons.

I had a real lazy today. It all started with a major headache this morning that progressed into a migraine. I won't go into any of the sordid details but trips to the bathroom were involved. I was able to go to sleep and woke up feeling much better. Needless to say, I didn't make it to church today. The rest of the day, I just took it easy and watched some playoff football.

I'm sad that the weekend has just about come to a close. I guess a new week brings new possibilities, right? I'm still hoping for my score to come this week. You can be sure that I'll be posting right away if I passed the last section of the exam. I'll probably post if I didn't as well but I'm really trying to stay positive.

I hope your weekend was all that you wanted it to be and that your upcoming week is great. Take good care.
